In African spiritual practice, the New Year is typically celebrated on September 23rd which aligns with the Spring Equinox, marking the start of a new cycle and renewal based on the ancient African calendar however here in the US and surrounding territories our new years is celebrated on the last day of the calendar year which is December 31st. Traditionally in the US New Years Eve is celebrated by a countdown until it reaches 12 am & we usually surround ourselves with food, drinks, friends, family or strangers. Some even carry their traditions into New Years Day but traditions are with the beholder of them and whether indoors or outdoors single or with a group I am hopeful for all to experience a safe passage into the new calendar year.
