An ongoing conversation with current and future leaders by Ms IGee of HigherVibes Online

Thank you so much for joining us! Our readers would love to “get to know you” a bit better. Can you tell us a bit about your ‘backstory’?
My name is Radiant Scoggins. I am a child of God, wife, Mom to 5 beautiful humans, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and lover of all things LOVE! Those of you who know me, know that I love to share my testimony. And for those of you whom I haven’t yet met, I’ll spare you too many details and instead give you a brief summary. I like to tell people that I was born a Social Worker. Literally came out the womb ready to serve…lol. And, the truth is, I believe this with my whole spirit. I’ve always felt the most joy when I am helping, giving, and loving others. It took a long time before I truly learned how to give myself love, but trust me it was well worth the wait. I started out working with at-risk youth in a residential setting. I was so honored to mentor these young ladies. I felt like there was so much I could give them as a teen mom and young woman with many life experiences. It was during that time that I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work which led me to the next chapter in my career which I call, “ Serving my elders”. Over the next 9 years of my life, I was truly filled by my work with the elderly population. I learned so much from their lives and felt honored to mentor, supervise, and develop my leadership qualities working in a healthcare setting. Fast forward, like so many, the pandemic was a true awakening for me. I took inventory of my life and made a very difficult choice to leave a state of comfort and challenge myself to get back to my roots, my passion, my purpose! Which is where I am currently on my journey. Today, I am honored to serve in a Federally Qualified Health Center providing both leadership and direct practice as a therapist. I also launched my private practice, “Radiant Counseling and Wellness” this past September and God continues to show up and show out in my life.
Please share the most interesting story from your career so far. Can you tell us a lesson or ‘takeaways’ you learned from this experience?
I actually have several interesting moments in my career however the one that comes to mind in this moment would be my transition from working with youth to working with seniors. At that time, I was pretty adamant that my life’s work would be working with youth. I was so happy being challenged by them. Challenged to extend grace despite constant disrespect. Challenged to show them love and how to give love. Challenged to mentor women who mentored. Leading by example. And then a chance meeting in a bank with a former colleague in grad school presented an opportunity to do something that I had never done or even thought of. Medical Social Work, and with the elderly population. It didn’t take long for me to learn that my gift, my passion, my purpose, is to serve. And that service had no preconceived notion. It didn’t stop with youth. It actually extended far beyond my imagination.
Is there a particular person who you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are?
Oh My, there are so many. I am grateful for each and every person who poured into me when I didn’t feel worthy of their love. I am grateful for my husband who spent many nights proofreading my essay’s, listening to my rant’s, believing in my dreams and joining me on this ride. I am grateful to my children who don’t always get the best of me because Mommy is tired. I am grateful for my mentors. I am grateful for each person who trusted me with their testimony. I am so grateful!
Thank you for this information and I feel that I have gotten to know a bit of your history so lets get to what the people want to know what contributed to your success? I can say it for you honey you are successful AF, there I said it, so that you can answer the question whole-heartly. What made/makes you the happy, healthy, peaceful and content person in this crazy world?
Successful! That’s a lot to take in. I receive that sis. I think what makes me the happiest, healthiest, and most peaceful is truly leaning into my purpose. As I mentioned before, I am always the happiest when I am serving others. And I thank God that my gift/talent is used everyday. I don’t take it for granted and as long as I have air in my lungs, peace in my heart, and God in my spirit, I will spread love!
5 Things You Need To Live A Long & Healthy Life”? 5 things you must give up to be happy? (Please share a story or an example for each)
1.Love. It takes so much energy to hate. I’d rather spend my time loving.
2. Peace. You can create your own peace. Peace of mind is free.
3. Dark Chocolate and coffee! Because why not!
4. Exercise. If you don’t move it, you loose it! I learned so much from seniors. They taught me the importance of movement. Those individuals who stayed active were always the healthiest.
5. Mindfulness. Be still and spend time with yourself daily. Pour into yourself before you give to anyone else. You are worth it and so deserving!
“I don’t have a list of things one should give up to be happy because I think happiness is a state of mind. And who am I to tell anyone what makes them happy or not? If something makes you happy and isn’t hurting anyone else, why should you give that up. Do you!” -Radiant

Thank you so much for joining us! Our readers would love to “get to know you” a bit better. Can you tell us a bit about your ‘backstory’?

My name is Percy Robinson, I’m the owner of DiaBeast Kitchen (content cooking channel) also I’m the owner of PRob Media. A digital edit, and video company.
The most interesting story I have. When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes I healed myself from my disease, and I wanted to share my story and progress with others with chronic illness. I started with a meal prep business, but unfortunately it got derailed, but it opened my eyes to other opportunities. Right then and there I started Diabeast kitchen. Filming myself cooking healthy meals to share with others. While I was running Diabeast kitchen, I had to learn everything on my own including filming.. I developed a love for creating video not just for myself, but for others, and thats when P Rob media was born. Running both of these business really built my confidence, and taught me I could do anything if I put my mind to it.
Is there a particular person who you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are?
The person I’m grateful for is my mother, she is no longer with us, but she is with me in spirit. My mother was my biggest fan, she believed in me way before I believed in myself.. I owe that women everything! And when she passed, I was lost for a min, it was almost like I lost my passion for everything.
What contributed to my success?
I would say the people I keep in my circle, I only allow people that inspire me to be around me. Energy is transferred never destroyed. Being around high vibrational people is the key.. also never giving up on your dream. Every single day I fight for what I believe in.
What makes my happy and peaceful
My child, I wake up everyday doing all this for my child.
Helping people makes my happy, spending time with my family, sharing stories, laughing, etc.. also spending time with my close friends.
5 things you need to live a long healthy life.
Believe in yourself
Fight for your family
Do things that makes you happy
Live for yourself
Now 5 things you need to get rid of
Live in the present
Stay away from energy Vampires
Stop trying to please everyone
Stay away from toxic people
Stop consuming toxic media
Stop eating toxic processed foods

My name is Renaissance Mic and I am a musician from Prince George’s County Maryland. I rap, produce, engineer, and play an array of instruments. I make sure to incorporate all the different skills and crafts that i have into my music
Please share the most interesting story from your career so far. Can you tell us a lesson or ‘takeaways’ you learned from this experience?
I’d have to say that one of the most interesting stories is when I met Guru. I noticed that a majority of the people in the room were star struck and scared to talk to him because of all he’s accomplished. What I learned though is that regardless of any type of “social status”, at the end of the day we are all human and should approach each other as such. Don’t be weird about it.
Is there a particular person who you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are?
I’d have to say my high school jazz band director. I was honestly getting bored of the saxophone and his class reignited something in me and kept me going. Had I stopped playing who knows what ,my view on music would even be like.
Thank you for this information and I feel that I have gotten to know a bit of your history so lets get to what the people want to know what contributed to your success? I can say it for you honey you are successful af, there I said it, so that you can answer the question wholeheartedly. What makes you the happy, healthy, peaceful and content person in this crazy world?
I’d say what contributed to the success that I do have is me not giving up when things got tough or it seemed like I was stuck. Having that sense of tenacity and realizing that you’re NEVER lost, but exactly where you need to be learning the lessons you HAVE to, will keep going and progressing. What genuinely makes me happy is receiving genuine love and support or seeing when all the hard work is paying off.
